Today, I am going to be finishing a project and then start on something completely unknown. In other words, today I have no ideas.
No designs, no projects, no concepts, nothing but emptiness. These days intimidate me because I've got energy to work and want to be in the studio but there's mystery.
I'm at a weird point where I'm feeling incredibly inspired, I've been reading and learning about things that are feeding my creativity, but I'm kind of just wanting to soak it all in.
I'm currently reading about a variety of topics from the American Southwest, to the Venetian textile industry, to the walking paths in Southern England. I have thoughts about the Sutton Hoo treasury which just got its Hollywood debut with a movie called The Dig. I keep seeing glimpses of gold and opulence coming through my work. I have visions of Carl Faberge's workshops and the famous eggs that he painted using enamel. I have flashes of being on archaeological digs in Egypt and Turkey. I imagine myself traveling by horse along the Silk Road through the foothills of the Himalayas.
I know I'm getting the travel bug, but it's all very distracting and sometimes too many ideas or visions makes me not design. I end up feeling empty, or with this deep sense of yearning almost like I'm thirsty.
There's a lot I want to do and see and experience and I never feel like I have enough time to do it all, does that happen to you too?
Going to keep this one short for today. Thanks so much for reading and take care.
Caitlin
