The Third Eye Earrings explore the space where intuition meets emotion. A heart-shaped blue glass stone rests above a symbolic third eye, while two suspended teardrops complete the composition. At the top, the heart represents love and heart-centered decisions. At the bottom, tears to represent something between grief and the beauty of life literally bringing you to tears.
Each pair is handcrafted using authentic vintage 1940s blue glass rhinestones, carefully fitted into individually fabricated brass settings. What began as a pleasant surprise became one of the defining parts of the making process. Although the glass appeared perfectly uniform, every vintage stone varied slightly in size. Rather than using standardized settings, each piece had to be individually fitted by hand, much like setting natural gemstones. Those subtle differences preserve the character of the original glass while making every pair quietly one of a kind.
Measuring 2 inches (51 mm) long by 1 inch (25 mm) wide, the earrings weigh approximately 5 grams each, creating a striking silhouette while remaining comfortable to wear. The gemstone sitting above the eyes is an iolite. As always, the posts and reverse of the earrings that touch the ears are made with sterling silver to ensure comfort.
Like many pieces from Casa Catalina, these earrings celebrate both craftsmanship and discovery. Historic materials find new life through traditional techniques, becoming contemporary jewelry that carries the beauty of the past into the present.
