Follow Your Intuition Earrings

‘Follow Your Intuition’ is a phrase I’ve had to repeatedly tell myself as I step into my studio, and try to create works that come from deep within. As I’ve mentioned in previous emails, I’m in a moment of shedding. I’m letting go of rules that I have been taught to work directly with the design, and discover what it calls for.
Now, every design decision comes from, “is this really what I want to put out there?” This process means that sometimes a design sits on my bench, half-finished, waiting for inspiration to strike, for the vision to hit me.
Right before my dad got sick, I heard voices. I could sense that there was darkness ahead. The intensity of that experience left me to wonder how I’d been ignoring my intuition for many years. When I first heard the voice, I wanted it to go away. Now I’m realizing and asking myself, “How do I harness that energy?”
This design is what intuition looks and feels like to me. It’s like a bursting of light and color. As a lifelong traveler, the compass has always been a symbol of direction. I sawed the ‘N’ of the North Star by hand, and discovered a way to add dimensionality to the star by twisting and spiraling the bursts.
Peridot, sterling silver, brass, bronze.
