Since signing off Instagram and Facebook over 3 months ago, I'm finding lots of really good inspiration out there. I'm so thrilled to have a space on this blog to share 3 things that have inspired me lately.
Let's get into it.
The Phoenician Scheme
I am a Wes Anderson fan, although admittedly I haven't been vibing with his last movies. It's hard to beat Royal Tenanbaums, Life Aquatic, and Darjeeling Limited, in my opinion.
But this film felt like a return to the Anderson I had so enjoyed in my early 20s. A little humor, lots of irony, an aesthetic that was totally on brand for his films, and of course, an unusual cast that he somehow can pull off. Loved it.
Rock Crystal
The other day, I had a vision for a necklace and 20 minutes later found my car pulling into the parking lot of my gemstone supplier's warehouse, haha. I do not know why, but rock crystal and I are having a moment. I love how much you can play with light with this material and lately, I've been researching artefacts throughout Ancient History that were made of rock crystal. Here's a photo of the start of the necklace I had envisioned. It came out better than I had imagined, also yay to bringing back beadwork.
Mahirwan Mamtani
I just discovered this artist's work today, and I came right to my blog to start writing about my 3 inspirations of the moment. I am particularly in love with his Centrovision pieces that he created with acrylic on wood panel in the lates 80s. Stunning, so current feeling, the colors are phenomenal, and they feel spiritually charged for me.
